Komarov Botanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg
The herbarium at the Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences includes
a Caucasian section. The collection of herbarium type specimens held here is the most
complete collection ever to be obtained from studies of the territory of the Caucasus. It
contains original specimens gathered by I.A. Giul'denshtedt and M.V. Adams, the first botanists
to study the flora of this region (at the end of the 18th century and the start of the 19th century).
