There is an increasing interest in the development and history of Central Asia. Especially during the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th, it was among the most disputed regions in clashes between empires and ideologies. This collection will present the intelligence gathered by the British India Office on the political, economic, strategic and social history of these territories. Materials and files were labelled Secret, Confidential, or For official use only; they cover the period 1865-1949.
