Herbarium F.A. Marschall von Bieberstein (1768-1826)

Komarov Botanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg.
Marschall von Bieberstein collected botanical material and this became his collection of the flora of the Crimea and the Caucasus. After his death in 1826, at Merefa, his herbarium of 8,000 to 10,000 'species' was purchased by the Academy of Sciences at St. Petersburg. It is currently stored in the herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences at St. Petersburg. Marschall von Bieberstein collected materials for a major work on the entire flora of Russia, including Siberia.
