This herbarium includes approximately 600 type specimens described in the Flora Graeca of J.
Sibthorp and J.E. Smith (1806-1840). The collection, which was the first to record and preserve
the richness and diversity of the flora of Greece and the rest of the eastern Mediterranean
region, forms an important basis for modern taxonomic investigation
Nearly 2,500 specimens.
