The project aims at tracing and recording all surviving copies of all Dutch book sales catalogues
printed before 1801, in order to microfilm one copy of each edition for publication on microfiche
and, finally, to compile a bibliography with a census of all extant copies. At present, copies of
c 4,500 catalogues have been traced:
c. 3,200 auction catalogues of private libraries and anonymous collections
c. 1,150 wholesale and retail catalogues of printers, publishers and
booksellers as well as some minor or peripheral categories (whether for an auction or not).
