Description of the individual lots of the herbarium sheets from K. Trinius’ collection
  • M.F. Adams.
    About 30 sheets. Another more than 300 sheets collected by him can be found in the general funds of MW (Siberian and Caucasus sections).
  • M. von Bieberstein.
    Extremely valuable collection estimated at 150 sheets, including around 100 syntypes.
  • S.G. Gmelin.
    About 40 sheets. His collections from Persia and Caucasus (1770-1784) were the subject of interest for many botanists, including K. Trinius, who described some new species based on Gmelin’s specimens.
  • I. Georgi.
    About 20 sheets, two of them authentic.
  • P.S. Pallas.
    About 100 specimens from the Crimea, Siberia and the Volga river valley. His herbarium was compiled from two main sources: the Botanical Museum in St. Petersburg and the Greifswald Academy (K.A. Rudolphi).
  • E. Patrin.
    About 20 sheets, mainly from the northwestern Altai region.
  • G. Langsdorf and L. Riedel.
    A large collection from different continents, consisting of hundreds sheets.
  • C. Steven.
    More than 220 specimens, mainly from the Caucasus, the Crimea and southern European Russia.
  • F.B. Fischer.
    A few sheets, among them several authentic. Of great interest are the foreign naturalists’ collections (some of them dating back to the pre-Linnaean period), which include many authentic specimens.
