Organization of the print
For the present publication, the material has been arranged in ten groups.

BII-1 Gazetteers and Handbooks

BII-5 Post-war administration and constitution for the state of Iraq
BII-6 Local government and education

BII-10 The oil industry

The first group (BII-1) comprises printed gazetteers and handbooks now preserved in the departmental libraries of the India Office Military and Political departments. The other groups (BII-2 through BII-10) comprise India Office Political and Secret Department subject files arranged broadly according to subject.

Within the ten groups, the following information is provided for each item:

  • fiche number
  • title or subject description
  • covering dates
  • OIOC reference number and (in the case of files) original P&S registry number; and number of pages or folios.
